Real, in-person fall leaves in my backyard!
I’m working through my very large pile of sketchbooks in search for incomplete or unused ones to use up. This is a tiny (3 1/2” by 5 1/2”) portrait hand•book sketchbook, several years old. It seems that they have changed paper on these sketchbooks a few times, and I have samples of at least three different paper types.
This one is the worst. It’s thicker than the other, but I noticed that ink that works fine on the other sketchbooks, including other versions of hand•book, feathers noticeably on this paper, and watercolor washes look flat and weird.
So, of course, I have to use it until I can make it work for me! The harder it is, the more I want to make it work. (Incidentally, this is NOT a good thing because it’s very distracting and it takes time. )
I do like the small format, and Noodler’s inks work well on this paper (this is Noodler’s #41 brown, which is waterproof).
