Today Google employees staged a 11:10 AM walk out in many offices around the world. The trigger was the report that a senior executive who left Google a few years ago had been accused of sexual harassment. The reason why he left the company was never disclosed, and he received a $90 million exit bonus (and praises) from Google.
Employees’ discontent and disillusionment with the formerly “don’t be evil” company is much deeper than that and touches racial and gender discrimination, lack of transparency, and labor practices. Google might have lost his soul, but many of its employees still care a lot.
